Podcast Summary'House 101' is a live dance music set that is done weekly, every Friday. The goal is simple to describe, while also very challenging to execute, “I want to take the stigmas out of Dance music and provide something that’s approachable and enjoyable to anyone!” With a vast knowledge in Progressive House music spanning over ten years, this guy has a lot to share!
About Logan SpencerLogan Spencer (born Brandon Butkowski; June 1st, 1984), is an aspiring American DJ. His love for music began early as a child, where he would sit in his room listening to the radio for hours on end recording to tape anything that his ears found pleasing... but his passion has always been sharing what he found with others. He would proceed to take these mix tape recordings and share them with friends. As he grew older, the habit of sharing only increased. Never afraid and often known as a trend setter in regards to adopting new technology, he instantly was drawn into the ‘mp3’ craze of the late 90’s and the launch of iTunes in 2003. A fan of many different styles of music but often limited, in the past, to what he heard on the radio, iTunes enabled him to expand and tailor his tastes. He was instantly captivated by the heavy beats and limitless boundaries that dance music provided. He would spend hours searching for new tracks from both big and smaller, less known dance production acts. Instantly his friends started coming to him for advice in regards to new dance tracks. He would be invited to parties and by the end of the night it was always his iPod connected to the stereo while the masses were enjoying his newest playlist. This desire to explore and share only grew as the years went by and, although it was often suggested by not only his friends, but also complete strangers, and local DJ’s that he should take his passion beyond just a simple “hobby”, he continued to view the idea as something more like a dream... that was too far away to take seriously. Flash forward to a moving experience while visiting a San Diego club during the spring of 2010... It was a crowded club, with a busy dance floor that had intense lights and sounds... his instincts kicked in and he couldn’t be drawn away from the dance floor. Throughout the night people continued to marvel at his dance abilities and natural talent to count beats and 'feel' the rhythm. He was like a drug on that dance floor and it wasn’t long before there was a large body of people dancing around him. The DJ on stage certainly noticed the group surrounding this individual on the dance floor and made an effort to reach out to him at the end of the night. He had only a simple message to give, but one that would be the motivational push that Brandon needed to finally take this beyond a simple “hobby”... he grabbed his shoulder and stated, “Boy, you should be DJ’ing up there!” On the flight home Brandon made a promise to himself that he would follow his heart and turn this passion and his naturally strong sense of rhythm into something more... Over the summer he came up with the name for his alter-ego, ‘Logan Spencer’ and then proceeded to dive deeper and deeper into the world of DJ’ing... investing into equipment, expanding and shaping his musical tastes and developing mixing techniques while growing a base of followers through his weekly, live podcast 'Intervention'. This podcast is evidence of his passion and natural abilities; the first episode came out in late August, 2010 and he continues to treat his audience to a new set every Friday! What’s impressive is simply how far he has come in such a short period of time... All he has to say, “Not far enough, I want to go further!” Well, with a drive and passion like that Logan is clearly setting himself up for a very bright future in the dance music scene!
